Star Wars Pipe cleaner finger puppets - Learn how to make these Star Wars finger puppets

We wouldn’t be named Curious and Geeks if there was nothing about Star Wars in our posts. So here is one geeky craft. These Star Wars Pipe Cleaner Finger Puppets are easy, quick and fun to make!
The kids love them as they can role play and pretend fighting.
We went for a Yoda and Princess Leia against a Darth Maul and Darth Vader. Do you think that’s a fair game?

Star Wars Pipe Cleaner Finger Puppets

We do love pipe cleaners crafts, there are easy to make and the kids can play with them, bend them by accident (or not…) and you can still fix them easily.
Here are the instructions and the items you need for each one of these little Star Wars pipe cleaner finger puppets.

1 | Master Yoda

Star Wars Pipe Cleaner Finger puppets - Master Yoda

This litte Master Yoda finger puppet is really easy to make.

Time needed: 10 minutes.

You will need:

  • White, brown, black and green pipe cleaners
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Wiggly eyes
  • Green Pompom

How to Make Star Wars Pipe Cleaner Finger Puppets – Master Yoda

Step 1: Grab a white and brown pipe cleaners and roll them together.

Step 2: Wrap them around your finger 4 times. Leave a tiny bit to fix on the head and cut the extra bit.

Step 3: Fix the top part of the pipe cleaners to the green pompom with some glue.

Step 4: Stick the wiggly eyes to the pompom.

Step 5: Cut some green pipe cleaners to form the mouth and the ears.
For the ears bend them at the end similarly to Master Yoda’s ears.
Finish this step by sticking the mouth and the ears to the head.

Step 6: Take some green and black pipe cleaners. Cut a small shape out of the black pipe cleaner and roll it around the end of the green one to form the grip of the light saber. Then cut the green pipe cleaner to form the lightsaber.

Step 7: Stick the lightsaber to the wrapped brown/white pipe cleaners.

Well done, you just made your first Star Wars pipe cleaner finger puppet!

2 | Princess Leia

Star Wars Pipe Cleaner Finger puppets - Princess Leia

Instead of coloring the eyes of the princess, you could use very small wiggly eyes.

Time needed: 15 minutes.

You will need:

  • White, brown and black pipe cleaners
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Paint
  • Wooden head

How to Make Star Wars Pipe Cleaner Finger Puppets – Princess Leia

Step 1: Take your wooden ball and start painting the hair of the princess in brown.

Step 2: While the head is drying, wrap the white pipe cleaner around your finger 4 times. Leave a tiny bit to fix on the head and cut the extra bit.

Step 3: Fix the top part of the pipe cleaners to the head with some glue.

Step 4: Take the brown pipe cleaner and cut two small shapes that you will roll around themselves to form the famous buns!

Step 5: Stick the buns to the head with some glue and draw the eyes, noise and mouth of the Princess.

Step 6: With the black pipe cleaner, form her blaster pistol. We just cut a small shape for the grip of her pistol

Step 7: Stick the blaster pistol to the wrapped white pipe cleaner.

3 | Darth Maul

Darth Maul is a bit more complex because of the details of his head. You could probably color it instead of painting it if you want a higher level of detail.

Time needed: 15 minutes.

You will need:

  • Black, brown and red pipe cleaners
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Paint
  • Wooden head

How to Make Star Wars Pipe Cleaner Finger Puppets – Darth Maul

Step 1: Take your wooden ball and start painting the back and the top of the head in black. Then paint the face in red. Finally start adding the details to his head with black paint and use some yellow for the eyes.

Step 2: While the head is drying, wrap the black pipe cleaner around your finger 4 times. Leave a tiny bit to fix on the head and cut the extra bit.

Step 3: Fix the top part of the pipe cleaners to the head with some glue.

Step 4: Take the brown pipe cleaner and cut three very small shapes that you will stick on top of the head to make the horns.

Step 5: Form his double light saber with some red pipe cleaner and a bit of black for the grip.

Step 6: Stick the lightsaber to the wrapped black pipe cleaner.

Careful, you might start to prefer the dark side of the force at this stage!

4| Darth Vader

Instead of the coffee capsule, you can form his helmet with some carboard.

Time needed: 10 minutes.

You will need:

  • Black and red pipe cleaners
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Used coffee capsules
  • Paint
  • Wooden head

How to Make Star Wars Pipe Cleaner Finger Puppets – Darth Vader

Step 1: Take your wooden ball and start painting it in black

Step 2: While the head is drying, wrap the black pipe cleaner around your finger 4 times. Leave a tiny bit to fix on the head and cut the extra bit.

Step 3: Fix the top part of the pipe cleaners to the head with some glue.

Step 4: Take the coffee capsule and cut a helmet out of it, then stick it to the head.

Step 5: Form Darth Vader’s lightsaber with the black and red pipe cleaner. The black pipe cleaner is used to form the grip of the lightsaber, so should be very small.

Step 6: Stick the lightsaber to the wrapped black pipe cleaner.

Step 7: Out of the black pipe cleaner, form a small triangle to mimic Darth Vader’s mouth and stick it to the bottom of the head.

Step 8: Paint small red and green shapes on the wrapped black pipe cleaner.

By now, you should have a little army of Star Wars characters! Good luck  in your future role playing fights and May the Force be with you!
