Last-minute-Halloween-costume-quick-and-easy: The Cow

You can add as many brown or black patterns as you want, or add a bigger pink pattern in the middle of the plastic bag.
If you don’t have a plastic for the mask, I used an old mask and swapped the plastic for this one.

Time needed: 15 minutes

For this Cow Costume, you will need:

  • A white plastic bag
  • A brown or black construction paper
  • A glue
  • Scissors
  • A thin elastic
  • A Cow mask printable

Instructions:

Step 1: With the scissors make a hole on the plastic bag for the head of your child. Check that you are holding the right side of the plastic bag, the opening should be on the bottom.

Step 2: On each side of the plastic bag, make a smaller hole for the arms.

Step 3: Take the brown or black paper and cut random patterns, you want some large ones and some smaller ones. You can use as many as you want.

Step 4: With a glue, stick the patterns to the plastic bag.

Step 5: Find a cow mask printable on internet and print it, or reproduce it if you do not have a printer available. Then stick the paper you printed to a cardboard and cut the mask.

Step 6: Make two holes on the side of the mask. Insert the elastic in the holes and make a node on each size, after checking the size of your kid’s head.

That’s it! Your cow costume is ready!!

  • A cereal box
  • Scissors
  • Some Paint – black, silver or gold
  • A Templar symbol pattern
  • A sword, a shield and a belt

Instructions:

Step 1: With the scissors make a hole on the plastic bag for the head of your child. Check that you are holding the right side of the plastic bag, the opening should be on the bottom.

Step 2: On each side of the plastic bag, make a smaller hole for the arms.

Step 3: Cut rectangle patterns across the bottom of the plastic bag.

Step 4: Find a Templar symbol on internet and print it or replicate it and stick it on the middle of the plastic bag. Ideally, you should check on your child where to best place the cross.

Step 5: Grab the empty cereal box and cut the edges. Then take one of the smaller side of the box and cut the nose protection inside. Try on your child to see if he can still see.

Step 6: Paint the cereal box in silver, gold, black, whatever color your kid wants.

Step 7: If you have a sword, a shield and a cord, use them as additional accessories.

This Penguin costume is really easy to make and will take you less than 10 minutes. If you are willing to spend a bit more time on the costume, you can include orange legs and hands by cutting the shapes in an orange construction paper.

For this Penguin Costume, you will need:

  • A black adult tee shirt
  • A white plastic bag
  • Scissors
  • A glue
  • A thin elastic
  • A Penguin mask printable

Instructions:

If you do not have a black tee shirt, you can use a black plastic bag instead and follow steps 1 and 2.

Step 1: With the scissors make a hole on the plastic bag for the head of your child. Check that you are holding the right side of the plastic bag, the opening should be on the bottom.

Step 2: On each side of the plastic bag, make a smaller hole for the arms.

  1. I love these costumes, we find that going with the proven formula of being a white ghost is the easiest idea to implement 😅

    Might try that medieval one!!

    1. Thanks Renato! My daughter loves changing her mind at the last minute, so we often have to improvise. Haven’t tried the white ghost yet though.
