My daughter loves packing and pretends to go on weekends and holidays all the time. She fills in a backpack with clothes, shoes and her comforter and go in a hideout and pretends to be camping or at the beach.
So, we decided to put together this holiday packing list for kids to help her and her brother get more autonomous and start packing by themselves for “real” holidays!
They still need a bit of help but we feel this list empowers kids and help them grow their self-confidence, so we decided to share it with you today.

Packing can be a real stress sometimes: Will everything fit? Did we forget something? Where did you put the passports?
I do find holiday packing lists, great to help reduce the stress. Plus if the kids can get more involved on everything holiday related, that’s even better.
This kids packing list should hopefully help you feel a bit less stressed during the preparation just before the holidays. And it is quite simple to use.

After adding the name of your kid on the title and the number of items they should be packing, you can hand the paper to your kid and watch them get excited about your incoming trip!

This list includes pictures to help younger kids easily identify the items they should be packing.

Tips

You can laminate this printable and use a marker to write down the numbers. You will be able to reuse for every trip without printing a new version each time.

This list can also be used for a school trip but don’t forget to use some name labels for your kids’ clothes.

You can also use this list at the end of your trip to make sure your kids didn’t lose anything.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Yes, I am feeling a bit philosophical today! But I do believe in this proverb and try my best to help my kids become more autonomous and self-confident. And this holiday packing list for kids follows the same concept. It will teach them how to pack, how to become more autonomous while progressing at their own pace and be proud of themselves.
