With the cold weather and the rainy days, we had to say goodbye to parks and start looking for more indoor activities. And as we love crafting, we decided to go for that and use feathers, as we have never used them before, to make some feathered bird crafts for kids. My kids loved them as they were soft and colorful.
So we hope you will enjoy these feathered friends bird crafts as much as we did!

How to make these feathered friends:
Below, you will find a step by step guide to make this feathered bird craft.
Step 1: Paint the foam ball with the chosen color, we opted for blue, white and dark blue. But you can let the kids creativity decide instead! To make it easier, you can use some play dough where you fix a sushi stick. Then put to foam ball on top of the stick. This way, the kids can paint it easily, without putting paint everywhere. It is also a great way to let it dry. You can add a second layer of paint to make it uniform if needed.
Step 2: Once the paint fully dry, pierce holes in the ball (you can use your sushi stick to do that). Start by one in the front for the beak, then a hole on each side for the wings, one on the back for the tail, one on the top for the crest. Finally, finish by two holes on the bottom for the legs.
You can choose to skip this step if you prefer, but it makes the sticking part easier.
Step 3: Use the glue to stick the feathers and leave it to dry.
Step 4: Cut the pipe cleaners to get the beak and the crest and form a V with both of them. Then cut another pipe cleaner for the legs.
Step 5: Stick the pipe cleaners and the wiggly eyes.
Enjoy your new feathered friend! We ended up making four of these cuties.
